I
was born in 1951. The Brook
Sloat Terrace Projects was where I was raised. My
grandad, Ben Capone, was in charge of the project's boilers
and maintenance. My grandmom, Gladys, worked for a time
at Preakness Hospital.
Going
to school was not my idea of fun and I always felt they
should have taught me the things that I was interested
in. I attended PS 19, 5, Central HS for one year and graduated
from JFK HS in Paterson, NJ. Anyway, I quit when I could
but went back for a fifth year and graduated in 1969.
Being the rebel I was, you will not find me in any yearbooks.
Viet
Nam, the draft, civil rights movements, race riots,
the hippie generation, the space program, alcohol and
drugs were all happening during my years in the projects.
Very interesting times to grow up in. Some of us got
through it. Some didn't.
I
married Sandra Johnstone and have two daughters. Stacy
and Melissa. As of 2005 they have given me three wonderful
grandchildren, Katelynn, John and Allyson. I am now
living in northern NJ, enjoying my family and a more
sedate environment.
The
printing industry has been my main source of income.
I do some web design on the side.
My
current hobbies are art and magic.
My
favorite music is usually mellow and tells a story.
The Grateful Dead, Traffic, Billy Joel are a couple
I like to listen to when I need to relax.
I've
met many people throughout my life. Some have passed
on and others have simply drifted away, I miss many
of them.
